Tasting Coffee Like a Pro

We got to sample six of their coffees, including Goldstone, Pocos de Caldas, Decaf, and Throwback. First, we tasted each coffee black to appreciate its depth and flavour profiles on its own. Then came the fun part—flavour pairing.

We'd stocked up on tasting companions like:

  • Dark chocolate

  • Salted dark chocolate

  • Fresh lime

  • Mixed berries

  • Flaked salt

Each pairing highlighted different aspects of the coffee, enhancing sweetness, acidity, or body. It was a sensory experience that turned us all into budding coffee connoisseurs.

Brewing Techniques and Some Friendly Competition

After the tasting, Justin and Ed demonstrated a few brewing methods, including pour-over and AeroPress—and gave us tips for recreating barista-level coffee at home. The session ended with two competitions that brought out everyone's competitive side and had the whole room buzzing (and not just from the caffeine).

More Than Just Coffee

Beyond the beans, this event was about bringing our team together, learning something new, and enjoying a shared experience. Huge thanks to Small Batch for such a fun and engaging afternoon – we'll never look at our morning cup the same way again.
