Meet our new Content Manager, Lucie Sadler

Written by Lee Colbran - 18 May 2021

We caught up with our new Content Manager, Lucie Sadler and put some questions to her about her career to date, her vision for the role, and what our clients and colleagues can expect...

I have expertise with various content formats (especially video and digestible social content), so I think that level of creative thinking will be beneficial to our clients.

Lucie Sadler, Content Manager

Describe your career path to date and how you got into content marketing?

I started my career in digital marketing after I graduated, working in copywriting and editorial roles.

I then worked in-house for a fast-growing technology company for nearly eight years, where I headed up the Content Marketing team and helped the brand expand across several global markets. Most recently, I was a Marketing Manager at a SaaS company before joining the Content team at Fresh Egg.

And what made you choose Fresh Egg as the next step in your career path?

2021 felt like the right time to take the next step in my career and move agency side. I’ve followed Fresh Egg for several years, so I was eager to apply when the opportunity came up to join the Content team!

With in-house roles, you often have additional marketing responsibilities, so now I can focus solely on content projects across a diverse portfolio of clients.

What is there from your previous jobs that you feel you'll bring to your new role?

Definitely a different perspective - you see the real value of content and how it underpins all areas of marketing when you work across a brand’s digital estate.

I have expertise with various content formats (especially video and digestible social content), so I think that level of creative thinking will be beneficial to our clients. My background as a writer will also help me make informed decisions with content strategy and content briefs because I know exactly how to create that content myself.

What are you looking forward to about this new challenge?

Lots of things! I’m especially looking forward to being at the forefront of new developments in the industry and learning from the wider team. It’ll be great to work with so many specialists in their respective fields.

Do you have a content marketing challenge we can help with?

What can our clients and your fellow Fresh Eggers expect when working with you?

Clear and open communication, organisation and creativity!

What’s your favourite tool for content marketing?

It is so hard to pick just one. Aside from the essentials such as SEMRushBuzzSumo and various Google tools, I think Answer The Public is really underrated!

What gives you the greatest satisfaction when doing your job?

Seeing a plan come together and working as part of a team. Plus, good feedback always helps!

What excites you most about content marketing?

That it is possible to build a brand’s identity through content alone! Also, (in my opinion) good content marketing can be as simple as understanding and empathising with your audience whilst speaking their language. When a brand gets it right, it is so exciting to see.

How do you stay on top of changes in the ever-changing world of content marketing?

I follow many content marketers and agencies on Twitter, which is a great way to stay up to date with new developments and find out about upcoming webinars etc.

I also dedicate time to learning and developing my own skills by reading various blogs and newsletters to follow the latest trends.

How do you see content marketing progressing in the future? What are you excited about?

I see content marketing continuing to develop in line with technology. AI is already making it easier to personalise content to specific audiences, voice search is growing in popularity, and social media platforms regularly release new formats and features. I’m excited to see how technology will affect how we consume and interact with content over the next few years!

As we all become increasingly reliant on technology, businesses will continue to adapt their content strategies to ensure that they are reaching their audiences via their preferred platforms and formats. Social media (especially TikTok and Instagram) and video will continue to be hugely popular content formats in brand marketing!

What do your parents think you do for a job?

I just asked this question on the family WhatsApp – they think that I come up with creative ideas to promote clients online and help to market products. A little mixed up with a previous job, but not completely off the mark!
