I have been lucky enough to have worked on both client and agency side, which has given me the ability to look at each situation from both perspectives. I’m also inquisitive and question everything, ensuring we constantly evolve our product offering and never stand still!

Fran Hall, Head of Product Services

Firstly, welcome, Fran. It’s fantastic to have you here. Tell us about your career to date and how you became involved in product and service development?

I have spent the last 18 years working in digital marketing, and I've had the pleasure of working on some wonderful brands, such as Lowcostholidays, Hoppa, Love Holidays, easyJet Holidays and Lastminute.com.

I've worked both client and agency side. I also founded my own agency. I've always enjoyed understanding how things work and wondering how to improve them.

I can be quite competitive, so throughout my career, I've been driven to create new products or services to elevate our offering over those of our competitors.

What made you choose Fresh Egg as the next step in your career path?

Fresh Egg has an amazing reputation, and its values align with mine.

Their core focus on providing outstanding service to their clients by empowering them to build their digital marketing teams on their own terms is refreshing. Fresh Egg also has some of the best digital minds in the business, and it’s my privilege to work alongside them, which enables me to keep learning.

You have worked with some great brands – what do you think makes these successful in what they do?

Great brands are great because they are fearless. They are not afraid to take risks and make a conscious decision to block out the noise surrounding their sector, which enables them to deliver an exciting customer experience and excel at what they’re good at.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Working with a team of incredibly talented individuals and seeing how far we can push ourselves to deliver genuinely inspiring products and services.

What are the most critical elements of a brilliant product or service?

Simplicity: We must develop products and services that enhance our client's business and our own without overcomplicating the process. That's when the magic happens.

What’s your favourite product of all time?

It would have to be the iPhone. As a child, if someone had told me that in the future, I would be able to hold a device that would fit in the palm of my hand that would allow me to make calls, take photos, send an email, browse the internet – I would have thought you were crazy.

Do you have a digital challenge we can help you with?

What would it be if you had to pitch a new product in Dragon’s Den?

You’ll have to watch it to find out!

You can only use one website or app; which one, and why?

Oh, that’s easy. It would have to be the easyJet app because they have made managing flights so very straightforward. The end-to-end process, from booking your seat to online check-in, boarding passes and flight tracking, is simple to use - they designed the experience with the customer at the front of mind.

What do you feel you bring to Fresh Egg to help our customers the most?

I have been lucky enough to have worked on both client and agency side, which has given me the ability to look at each situation from both perspectives. I’m also inquisitive and question everything, ensuring we constantly evolve our product offering and never stand still!

What tips would you have for anyone looking to get into product development?

Put yourself in the shoes of your customer. You need to live and breathe the products so you can imagine them as something bigger than they are today. Most importantly, be curious, and question everything. Doing so will open you up to a world of possibilities.

Do your friends and family understand what you do for a job?

I believe they have a good idea because I find it hard to stop once I start talking about my work. My daughters, in particular, must find me quite boring.

And finally, what is your favourite way to eat an egg?

There’s only one way to eat an egg, and that’s poached!
