We are looking for a proactive and hands on Head of Search to fill the shoes of our current head, who is moving on after a decade with Fresh Egg. You will work closely with our commercial team in a pre-sales capacity and will also be expected to actively deliver on client projects, as and when required.

As Head of Search at Fresh Egg you are responsible for leading the strategic direction of the search offering at Fresh Egg, developing the services as the industry matures and grows and driving a testing culture keeping the agency relevant within the industry. You will collaborate with other discipline heads ensuring that integrated solutions are offered to our clients.

You will oversee a highly skilled and experienced team with specialisms in technical SEO, content and digital PR, supporting them in their client strategies, delivery of quality activity and achievement of results against objectives. You continually evaluate processes to improve team efficiency.

You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities for growth and improvement, helping to drive pipeline and resourcing accordingly. You will liaise with the marketing team to promote existing and new innovative SEO services, increasing search related work for the agency. To help this you will raise awareness of the Fresh Egg search team within the industry and drive awareness of agency expertise.

• Work closely with all relevant client stakeholders and colleagues in other Fresh Egg service areas to ensure that client accounts have a robust overall technical strategy in place
• Thoroughly understand the digital industry and client businesses to enable driving of strategic plans and expansion of technical SEO services
• Forecast and measure performance impact clearly across all recommended SEO activity
• Position Fresh Egg as the premier choice for technical SEO advice and to be recognised in the UK as the top agency for managing complex site migrations
• Ensure that account and project activities are well-managed, producing results and delivered on time and budget
• Develop retained services for Fresh Egg, reporting on value and performance
• Understand the products/services, competition, industry, marketing goals and objectives of each of the clients you work on
• Conclude a technical toolkit of software platforms that are required to deliver a seamless and robust SEO service
• Carry out detailed initial consultancies/audits for assigned new clients as required
• Work closely with the conversion and design teams to ensure that all concepts, prototypes, wireframes and UX recommendations are audience-focussed and demonstrate SEO best practices
• Support the client services team with growth proposals, identifying and scoping opportunities to increase SEO-related revenue
• Support the business development team with pre-sale activities, driving leads and increasing SEO-related new business for the agency
• Be aware of the latest trends and support by evolving the SEO service, keeping it up to date, efficient and relevant with advances in AI
• Consider the commerciality of an in-depth technical SEO syllabus, qualifying the needs from our audience and thinking about offering services for intense training courses or how the training might integrate with the Fresh Egg academy

• Significant leadership, management and strategic consulting abilities gained from working across different clients, brands and projects
• First class SEO knowledge with at least two years experience in delivering successful SEO campaigns within a senior level role
• An understanding of the paid search landscape
• Experience of working in a fast-moving agency environment
• Able to clearly demonstrate value to clients
• Proven ability to win and develop new business as part of a pitching team
• Understanding of business finances and commercial acumen
• A strong analytical and quantitative mindset with the ability to work within key industry tools to deliver insight and create strategy
• You’ll be a strategic thinker, natural problem solver with experience of helping a business to broaden and diversify their search offering
• Strong interpersonal skills; numerate and literate with excellent communication skills
• Experience of a coaching style of management
• Excellent knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Proactive and highly organised, with strong time management and planning skills, meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to multi-task
• The gravitas and credibility to build relationships with executives at all business levels
